A brilliant film a lot of it improvised with Ozark people as the extras. The Ozarks are part of the Appalachian/Hillbilly community. Their music came from British immgrants to the USA in the 19 century.
This film would inform your ideas whilst also thinking about cultural identity.
Re narrative structure, you may wish to use a mixture of faux performance with your actor, montage images related to country life and possibly a slight story to tighten the narrative or to give you focus.
